Shining 3D Aoralscan Elf

A lightweight, powder-free intraoral scanner built for fast, comfortable full-arch color scanning.

The Aoralscan Elf is Shining 3D's compact chairside intraoral scanner, designed to capture accurate 3D color images of teeth, gingiva and oral mucosa without any powder spraying. It scans a single tooth, several teeth, or a complete dental arch, and is intended for dental professionals working in orthodontic, implant and restorative workflows. With a slim handpiece, three interchangeable tip sizes and AI-assisted bite optimization, the Elf keeps scanning quick and easy for the clinician while staying gentle for the patient. Captured data exports as open STL, OBJ and PLY files, so it drops straight into whatever CAD/CAM or lab pipeline you already run.

Why the Aoralscan Elf stands out

  • Powder-free color scanning — captures true-color 3D images of teeth and soft tissue with no spray step, making the workflow faster and more comfortable for patients.
  • 106 g handpiece — the lightweight ergonomic scanner is designed for comfortable daily chairside use.
  • Three tip sizes for every case — standard, big and mini tips let you match the scan field to the situation, from full-arch work down to narrow posterior areas or patients who cannot open wide.
  • IntelliBite bite optimization — when scanning the occlusion, IntelliBite is enabled by default to automatically optimize the bite registration and keep the arches aligned within an acceptable range.
  • Plaque Detection Scan — a dedicated mode maps the distribution and range of colored plaque across the tooth surface, giving you a clear visual aid for patient education and hygiene tracking.
  • Heated, anti-fog tip — the tip heats automatically to prevent condensation on the mirror, so scans stay clear from the first frame; the scanner also identifies which tip type is attached and adjusts accordingly.
  • Autoclavable, reusable tips — each scanner tip can be cleaned, disinfected and high-temperature sterilized up to 100 times, supporting a safe, cross-contamination-free workflow.
  • Open export formats — scan data saves as STL, OBJ and PLY and moves directly into CAD/CAM systems, with no proprietary lock-in.
