Aidite EZneer Single-Layer Zirconia Disc Guide

EZneer is Aidite's veneer-focused zirconia line, and the single-layer (Preshade Color) disc is the monolithic version of it. The point of the EZneer family is translucency: at 60% it pushes past what most zirconia reaches, which is why Aidite markets it as a glass-ceramic alternative for thin anterior work rather than a general crown-and-bridge material.

The single-layer disc is the simpler, one-shade-body member of the line. It has a uniform color and property set top to bottom, which makes it predictable for ultra-thin veneers on an even, natural-colored abutment.

Why this disc is built for esthetics, not spans

Every zirconia disc sits somewhere on a trade-off between strength and translucency. Yttria, the stabilizer added to the zirconia powder, controls where it lands. More yttria (5Y) grows larger, more light-transmitting crystals, so the material looks more like natural enamel but bends more easily. Less yttria (3Y-4Y) keeps the crystals small and the material tougher, but more opaque. That is why a disc built for front-tooth esthetics is rarely the same disc you would trust across a long posterior bridge.

Layer structure is the second variable. A single-shade (monolayer) disc has one body color and one property set top to bottom. A multilayer disc is pressed from several powders so that color and translucency change gradually from the cervical zone to the incisal edge, the way a real tooth does. Gradient discs save staining time on anterior work; monolayer discs are simpler and usually cheaper for high-volume posterior cases.

EZneer is the high-translucency, lower-strength end of that trade-off. The 5Y-TZP formulation reaches 60% translucency, well above the 43–57% range of Aidite's gradient discs, which is what lets a thin veneer transmit light like enamel. The cost is strength: at 600 MPa it is far below the 1,250 MPa of the 3D Pro Zir Ultra or AiZir Flash. Aidite's own framing is that this still runs about 40% stronger than the glass ceramics labs would otherwise reach for on veneers.

Single-layer vs multilayer EZneer

The single-layer disc carries one body shade in four options: EW (Extra White), BW (Bleaching White), HV (High Value), and LV (Low Value). Because there is no built-in gradient, it is best suited to ultra-thin veneers in the 0.3–0.5 mm range over an even, natural-colored prep, where the underlying tooth supplies the depth and the disc supplies the brightness and translucency.

If the abutment is discolored or you need more thickness to mask it, Aidite's multilayer EZneer is the better fit. The single-layer disc trades that masking and gradient for a simpler, usually more economical option when the case is clean. Both pair with Biomic LiSi Connect, a lithium-disilicate spray coating that makes the surface etchable and bondable like a glass ceramic.
