Cleaning and sterilizing T-Markers: the full protocol

T-Markers go into the patient's mouth, so they are cleaned and sterilized between cases. This is TruAbutment's protocol from the instructions for use. It is meant for qualified dental professionals.

Before first use

Inspect each marker for deformation, pinholes or foreign material. Then steam sterilize at 132 °C for at least 4 minutes, followed by 20 minutes of drying.

After every case

  1. Right after use, soak for 10 minutes in lukewarm water with enzymatic detergent at the recommended concentration, for example 0.4% Endozime AW (Ruhof).
  2. Brush under running water to remove residue.
  3. Ultrasonic clean for 5 minutes below 40 °C at 25 to 50 kHz with enzymatic detergent.
  4. Rinse with distilled water for 1 minute, inspect for cleanliness and damage, then dry at 60 °C for about 20 minutes.
  5. Sterilize by the recommended method and store at 1 to 30 °C out of direct sunlight.

Use the right cleaner

The markers have a black anodized finish that some cleaners can discolor. See our guide to cleaners that are safe and unsafe for T-Markers.
