RAYSHAPE ShapeWash and ShapeCure: choosing a finishing setup

A dental printing setup needs a finishing plan alongside the printer. RAYSHAPE ShapeWash equipment handles ultrasonic cleaning; ShapeCure D equipment handles UV post-curing. These are different stages, and choosing one does not replace the other.

Through Dentcore's RAYSHAPE partnership, practices and laboratories can compare these units with the printers and materials in the RAYSHAPE collection. Start with the printed parts and validated process you need to support, then compare capacity and installation requirements.

ShapeWash 020S or 040S: check usable fit

Unit Listed tank capacity Listed washing dimensions
ShapeWash 020S 3.2 L 240 × 135 × 100 mm
ShapeWash 040S 10 L 300 × 240 × 150 mm

Both models are listed as 40 kHz ultrasonic cleaners. The 040S provides a larger tank. Check the basket, part orientation and approved loading arrangement before treating the tank dimensions as usable clearance for a particular build.

For a compact setup, compare a typical day's batches in the 020S. For larger parts or batches, evaluate whether the 040S provides the space you actually need. The selection should account for handling and the prescribed cleaning process, as well as tank size.

ShapeCure D or D+: compare diameter and height

Unit Listed curing space Purchase check
ShapeCure D 180 mm diameter × 100 mm height Check part size and the validated arrangement in the chamber.
ShapeCure D+ 300 mm diameter × 130 mm height Evaluate larger parts or batches without assuming that they may be stacked or crowded.

RAYSHAPE lists both units with 405 nm light and programmable curing settings. The specified spaces are diameter and height, not rectangular printer build volumes. Check the finished part's dimensions and required placement independently.

Matching wavelength alone does not establish a validated material workflow. Confirm the resin, printer, wash and dry procedure, cure unit and current cure program together. This guide compares equipment; it does not prescribe a universal curing time.

Check the D mini voltage designation

Dentcore's ShapeCure D mini listing is specifically labeled 220 V. RAYSHAPE's general D mini web specifications describe a broader input range. Confirm the supplied regional version, nameplate and installation requirements before ordering. Do not assume the store's 220 V item is a direct replacement for a 120 V unit.

Plan the workflow between the machines

Map the process from part removal through washing, drying, post-curing and inspection according to the current equipment and material instructions. Include appropriate handling space and a clear place for parts awaiting the next stage. Follow the prescribed solvent and safety requirements rather than selecting a solvent from a general comparison table.

For a batch-printing lab, test how many parts can proceed through the approved finishing process. If washing or curing becomes the bottleneck, a larger printer platform alone will not resolve it. For a practice running occasional jobs, review cleaning and setup work between uses as well as the cycle itself.

What to provide when comparing a configuration

  • The printer model and exact resin name.
  • The largest part and typical batch you need to process.
  • The current validated cleaning and curing instructions.
  • The available installation space and electrical supply.
  • Any existing finishing equipment you intend to keep.

Use that information to compare ShapeWash and ShapeCure as a complete finishing setup. Confirm included accessories and current availability with the final equipment configuration.
