Medit iE price and software: what to include in your budget

Medit iE starts at $10,999 for the scanner, or $13,999 with a laptop, in the current US Q4 configuration. A complete budget also accounts for optional software, tips and the support your practice needs.

The standard configurations include a one-year warranty. The US offer period is October 1 through December 31, 2026. Dentcore's iE page lists the current choices; confirm availability, applicable tax, shipping and the exact computer before ordering.

Separate the equipment from the software

The iE brochure includes the scan-and-send workflow through Medit Link and describes free software updates. It separately identifies Realtime Intelligence and Medit Apps as optional additions. Updating the scanner software and purchasing an application license are different budget items.

Ask which functions your team will actually use. A practice sending work to a laboratory may have a different software list from a practice designing restorations or appliances in-house. Write that list before selecting subscriptions, so each charge corresponds to a real task and an assigned user.

Get the account-specific answer

The current Realtime Intelligence guide explicitly identifies a separate subscription for iE. For other applications, confirm the current US iE eligibility, account registration requirements and billing terms individually. Check cloud storage separately as well: an included scan-and-send workflow does not mean unlimited storage is included. A general statement about Medit scanner-owner benefits does not establish the entitlement for every newly introduced model.

If you already use Medit, ask the software provider to check the group that will own the scanner and subscriptions. Verify which registered device qualifies that group for any benefit. Save the written answer with the quote. This is particularly useful when comparing a new iE unit with another scanner already registered in the practice.

Also clarify whether a charge is monthly, annual, per export or tied to a specific feature. Avoid combining those different billing units into a single monthly estimate until you have a realistic use assumption.

Evaluate the laptop configuration properly

The difference between the two listed iE configurations is $3,000. That is the bundle-price difference in the manufacturer's sales sheet; it does not establish a laptop's independent retail value or specify the exact machine you will receive.

Ask for the processor, memory, graphics, operating system and connection specifications of the quoted laptop. If you intend to use an existing computer, have the exact model and USB port checked. The iE brochure specifies USB 3.1 Gen 1 with Power Delivery and Medit Link support for Windows and Mac. Physical USB-C compatibility alone is insufficient.

Include tips and support without guessing a lifetime

Reusable tips still need a purchasing and rotation plan. The brochure identifies large and medium sizes and a maximum of 150 autoclave cycles when the specified process is followed. Confirm what arrives in the box, the replacement price and how your team will track use and inspect each tip.

The US sales sheet lists a one-year warranty for iE. Ask for the complete warranty terms and the service process: what is covered, how a fault is reported, the applicable service region and whether any replacement or loan equipment is included. Do not budget a loaner or turnaround guarantee unless it is written into the applicable offer.

Calculate for a defined period

For a three-year planning comparison, add the equipment quote, the confirmed recurring charges over 36 months, expected pay-per-use charges and your documented replacement allowance. Keep tax, finance charges and shipping visible. Use the same assumptions for every scanner you compare.

That calculation estimates spending. To estimate payback, your practice would also need its own case volume, labor costs and measured changes in the work. A scanner specification cannot establish those savings. Begin with a complete quote, then update the budget with actual use.
