Chairside Aerosol Suction

Minimize Airborne Virus Transmission. Covid-19 has drastically changed the dental industry. Clinical visits are now subjected to the spread of patients’ saliva through aerosol exposure. The CAS unit catches aerosol directly from the patient’s mouth. Its unique design features 1280 Watts of power and a 3 layered HEPA/H-13 filtering process collects 99.9% of the solution.

3-Layered HEPA Filtration System

The True HEPA filter removes 99.97% of particles at the 0.3 micron size or higher. While the Covid-19 virus is 0.125 micron, it travels on water vapor particles ranging from 0.5 micron to 3micron. This is why HEPA air filters are able to effectively capture much of the microbes within the aerosol particles. Due to the particles being less than 0.3 micron in size, a small number of particles may bypass the filter; however, a portion of those will be trapped due to the magnetic effect of the HEPA fibers. Interestingly, a study by NASA scientists found that HEPA filters were able to capture particles at the 0.1 micron size. HEPA filters are designed to capture microbes such as bacteria and viruses and are recommended for viral capture by the CDC.
